8 Check-in procedures Athletes Lounge Uniform check (name, country, logos, ITU logo, zippers) – photographs taken of each uniform. Wearing other uniform during the race = DSQ Body marking check (both arms and both legs) Do not forget your timing chip and swim cap

9 Check-in procedures Transition Area Bike check: handlebars & wheels (non authorized UCI wheels rule) Helmet check- Leave helmet unfastened on bike in T1 Time Penalty Sprint distance - 10 seconds in T1 (Juniors) Time Penalty Standard distance - 15 seconds in T1 (Elite) Running Shoes outside the box, helmet on the bike Spare wheels to the wheel-stop Any athlete wanting to add any equipment to the bike must obtain approval from the Race Referee within 10 minutes of the end of the Athletes‘ Briefing. (No Go-Pros allowed)

10 Pre-start Procedure Athlete Introduction: Males 10 minutes before start, line-up on start corridor with Female athletes behind The same for both the Junior & Elite races Jog to your start position Select your position and stay behind the line! Athlete blocking more than one place will result DSQ

11 Start Procedure Athletes in position: The start can be given any time after the TD announces ”On your marks” Air horn blast The race starts Athletes not moving forward at the start will receive a time penalty in T1 10 seconds (Juniors) or 15 seconds (Elites)

12 False Start Procedures False start: Several horn blasts Kayaks in front of you Everyone goes back to her/his spot Early start: If someone starts before the horn and everyone else starts with the horn, the athlete who started early will receive a time penalty in T1 10 seconds (Juniors) or 15 seconds (Elites) During the time penalty athletes remain stationary and cannot touch any equipment

16 The Start Males will have 27 start positions Females start positions will be centred Start positions are NOT numbered Asyou are called forward from start corridor stand behind the start position. You may only stand behind 1 start position, taking up more than 1 startposition will result in disqualification When“take your mark” is announced, step into the start box but DO NOT cross the front edge, until you hear the“horn” indicating the start of the race 1 2 3 Athletes Line Up Corridor Swim

17 Swim course Water temperature: 16°C Wetsuits optional 1 Lap for Juniors - total 750m 2 Laps for Elite – total 1500m Take cap and goggles to transition and place in your box

19 Transition Area Traditional Bike Racks Running shoes in front of the box, helmet on the bike Bags to the Athletes Lounge Only race kit to be in transition Goggles, swim caps (& wetsuits) must go into the box Mount line at the end of transition

21 Bike course Undulating & Technical with fast downhill to Transition Juniors - 5 laps (total 20km) Elite – 10 laps (total 40km) 1 Team Wheel Station near Transition (see map) Lap Counter: Located at the end of transition will show the correct lap for the lead athletes. All other athletes will need to be fully aware of which lap they are on. IMPORTANT It is athlete’s responsibility to complete correct number of laps Athletes lapped on the bike will be allowed to continue but cannot draft athletes who have lapped them

22 Bike course – Lapped Athletes Men must not draft off women Women must not draft off men Lapped athletes must not draft any other athlete who has lapped them If you are seen drafting you will be DSQ If in doubt do NOT Draft.

25 Run course Juniors - 2 laps (total 5km) Elite – 4 laps (total 10km) Aid stations: 1 per lap For locations see the map Plastic cups Discard plastic cups off course Photo-finish Move through finish area: Go to mixed zone / recovery area

27 Run Penalty Box The penalty box is for infringements in: T1, bike and T2 Mount - Dismount – Discarded Equipment - Littering (Transition will be videotaped for infringements) Location: 100m before the Transition Area Information: White board to show race numbers (Athletes need to read the board – coaches are advised to check and inform their athletes) Procedure: Juniors - 10 second time penalty served on any lap of the run Elites – 15 second time penalty served on any lap of the run If you do not serve your penalty - DSQ

28 Run Penalty Box Rule interpretation Mount after the mount line: One foot must be in contact with the ground AFTER the Mount line Dismount before the dismount line: One foot must be in contact with the ground BEFORE the Dismount line Discharge or storage of your equipment Equipment (swim cap, googles, helmet, etc.) must be in your designated box. Racking your bike Traditional bike rack, the bike must be racked by the handlebar or seatpost within 0,5m of the name plate. If racking on handlebars, both bars must be on rack

29 Post-race Procedures “Mixed Zone” - immediately after finish 1, 2, 3 with host broadcaster first. Medal Presentation - protocol – at 18:00 Dress “up” No flags on the podium

30 Post-race Procedures Anti-Doping Control Photo ID is needed for every athlete to have ready for Doping Control Medical Team medical officials are only allowed in this area if an athlete from their team requires assistance.
