1 Blind spots: The Everyday Challenge

2 Galatians 2

4 The word hypocrite comes from the greek word hupocretos – meaning a play actor.
Hypocrisy is… Changing our behavior depending upon whom we’re around at the time. A Hypocrite is… Someone who feels repentant on Sunday for something they did on Saturday and intend to do again on Monday.

5

6 What does hypocrisy do?

7 It ruins our…

8 There are six things the Lord hates— no, seven things he detests:
17      haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent, 18      a heart that plots evil, feet that race to do wrong, 19      a false witness who pours out lies, a person who sows discord in a family. Prov 6:16-19

9 It poisons us

10 Two Negative Effects of Hypocrisy
Hypocrisy is Exhausting “There are few things in life more exhausting than being insincere.” Anne Marrow Winberg “No man for any considerable period can wear one face to him self and another to the multitude without finally getting bewildered as to which one is the true one.” Nathaniel Hawthorne – The Scarlet Letter

11 It poisons our witness for Christ

12

13 "The single most cause of atheism in the world today is Christians, who acknowledge Jesus with their lips but walk out of the church doors and deny Him with their lifestyle. This is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable."

14 Break the chain of hypocrisy!

15 Bible study 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. 2 Tim 3:16-17

16 Accountability Brothers, if someone is caught in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual should restore such a person with a gentle spirit, watching out for yourselves so you won’t be tempted also. 2 Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Gal 6:1-2 (HCSB)

17 Authenticity 16 So I advise you to live according to your new life in the Holy Spirit. Then you won't be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The old sinful nature loves to do evil, which is just opposite from what the Holy Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are opposite from what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, and your choices are never free from this conflict. 18 But when you are directed by the Holy Spirit, you are no longer subject to the law. Gal 5:16-18 (NLT)

18 Will You Be Wheat or Weeds?
