2 Agro-food: one of S3 key priorities 1263 priorities encoded in Eye@RIS3 covering 25 MSs and 178 regions. 271 priorities (21.5%) are specifically in area of agro-food incl. related areas e.g. (agro)tourism, bio-technologies (incl. KETs), water, etc. 229 November 2015

4 Agro-food bio-technologies 60 related priorities have been identified in 50 countries and regions: 9 EU-13 countries and regions and 41 other countries and regions. Related technologies that appear in the description are: KETs, chemistry, energy, biofuels, engineering, health and life sciences, bio-medicine, pharmacy and generic engineering. the most frequent priority is KETs in particular industrial biotechnology (25 entries) 429 November 2015

6 Common issues Entrepreneurial discovery process – how and why food (or similar area) was selected as one of smart specialisation areas? Who are relevant stakeholders? What is special about this specialisation? Is it a cross-sectoral activity or niche activity? Past, current, future R&I in food, gastronomy, bio-economy, food tourism, etc. to boost regional/ national growth and employment. Implementation of this smart specialisation including implementation strategy, processes, tools, project calls and selection criteria, etc. Trans-regional and international collaborations within this smart specialisation area – experience, projects, partners, future activities. 629 November 2015
