2 Class Content Non Traditional Class  This is not a “class” like any other, it will be a learning experience  The learning experience will be individual specific and the student will get out if it what they put into it. Focus on exploring current topics in the area of information systems technology.

3 Class Objectives To provide students with the opportunity to develop skills in information systems technologies, and software/hardware topics which are currently important in the dynamic IS field. To give students experience with applied projects and team activities. To develop individual and group research skills imperative to maintaining currency in a rapidly changing technological environment

4 Class Requirements Current Events Articles Group Class Exercises Weekly Topic Briefings Final Exam

5 Current Events Articles Each Tuesday a current events article will be presented to the class. This will be an informal presentation of the article. First article due July 7 th. The article cannot be more than 3 months old. Can be on any topic in the news on information systems technologies.

6 Group Class Exercise Each Tuesday a group class exercise will be assigned. The group will complete the exercise and present their findings to the class. Groups of 2 or 3 are acceptable

7 Weekly Topic Briefing Each Thursday a weekly topic briefing will be due There will be 5 briefing topics Executive briefings will be assigned that will take the form of a written report of approximately 1200-1500 words directed toward a managerial audience.

9 Weekly Topic Briefing The topic of each briefing will be of the student’s choosing but must be related to the weeks topic. Sample topics are included in the class syllabus. The student will be required to provide a class presentation of each executive briefing.

10 Weekly Topic Briefing PowerPoint should be use for presentations  Use Bullet Points  Do not simply write your briefing on the slides Written reports will be turned in weekly  Include a copy of your PowerPoint slides Weekly briefings will be combined into one semester long topics study  Due August 6th
