3. Alexander Fleming Alexander Fleming was born in Ayrshire, Scotland in 1881 He discovered penicillin in 1928 when he found some mould in his kitchen Other people developed this idea so that penicillin could be used as antibiotics to treat illnesses He won the Nobel Prize in 1945.
