3 APPOINTMENT PROCEDURES  Walk-in Appointments  Students can see their counselor without an appointment before school, during lunch or after school.  Scheduled Appointments  No appointments will be set up between periods or if the student shows up with a teacher’s pass during class time.  Student will receive a pass with a time and date for their appointment  You are responsible for keeping your appointment

7 MATH – 4 CREDITS REQUIRED  9 th GRADE  Algebra I or Geometry (R/H)  10 th GRADE  Geometry or Algebra II (R/H)  11 th GRADE  Algebra II (R/H), Pre-Calculus  12 th GRADE  Analysis of Functions & Trigonometry, or AP Math Course

8 SCIENCE – 3 CREDITS REQUIRED  9 th GRADE  Earth/Space Science or Biology Honors  10 th GRADE  Biology or Chemistry (R/H)  11 th GRADE  Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology, Physics (R/H)  12 th GRADE  Marine Science (R/H) or AP Science Course

9 SOCIAL STUDIES – 3 CREDITS REQUIRED  9 th GRADE  No course or AP Human Geography  Counts as an elective credit  10 th GRADE  World History (R/H), AP World History  11 th GRADE  United States History (R/H), AP US History  12 th GRADE  U.S. Government (R/H) or AP US Government  Economics (R/H) or AP Microeconomics

10 PHYSICAL EDUCATION – 1 CREDIT REQUIRED  9 th GRADE  Recreational Activities  Personal Fitness  These courses are available at VVS & FLVS  Waivers – application available for Band, ROTC, Dance,& 2 yrs. Of Interscholastic JV or Varsity Sport.

11 PE WAIVERS  Band – One semester of Marching Band with a grade of C or better waives.5 credit of PE. Student must still take Personal Fitness.  Dance – One semester of a dance class waives.5 credit of PE. Student must still take Personal Fitness.  Interscholastic Sports – Two seasons of an interscholastic sport at the JV or Varsity level and a grade of C or better on the Personal Fitness competency test waives Personal Fitness and PE.  Participation in these activities does not automatically waiver this graduation requirement. Student must request and complete the application for the waiver.

12 JROTC WAIVERS  Completion of two years of JROTC waives the physical education credit and a full credit of performing arts.  Students must still take the.5 credit required of Personal Fitness

13 PERFORMING ARTS – 1 CREDIT REQUIRED  Examples of performing – fine arts courses:  Band  Theatre 1  Creating Art 2D & 3D  Television Production  Speech 1 & 2 (VVS course only)  Other Career & Technical Education courses may apply

14 ELECTIVES – 8 CREDITS REQUIRED  Choose wisely!  Experiential Learning  Electives are NEVER guaranteed.

17 G.P.A.  Students Need A Minimum Of A 2.0 GPA To Graduate.  1.9999 will not be rounded up to 2.0  How is the GPA calculated?  Quality points divided by credits attempted  Types Of GPA?  Graduation  Class Rank*  Eligibility * Denotes weighted GPA  Bright Futures *  College Admissions

18 FSA & EOC  Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) or English Language Arts Assessment (ELA)  End of Course Exam (EOC)  Algebra I (Pass + 30% of final course grade)  Geometry (30% of final course grade)  Biology (30% of final course grade)  U.S. History (30% of final course grade)  Algebra II (30% of final course grade) if enrolled

19 GRADUATION OPTIONS  ACCEL 18-Credit Diploma Option  What is the distinction between the 18-credit ACCEL option and the 24-credit option?  3 elective credits instead of 8  Physical Education is not required  Online course is not required  All other graduation requirements for a 24-credit standard diploma must be met including all assessments.

20 SUPERINTENDENT’S DIPLOMA OF DISTINCTION  In addition to meeting the 24-credit standard high school diploma requirements, a student must:  The student must successfully complete a minimum of four (4) AP courses distributed over at least two (2) different content areas.  Successful completion includes passing the courses as well as sitting for the AP exam.  The student must earn a score of 3 or higher on three (3) or more AP exams.  The student must earn a weighted AP GPA of 3.0 or higher.  The student must earn an overall weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher.

21 SUPERINTENDENT’S DIPLOMA OF DISTINCTION  The student must complete a minimum of 100 community service hours.  The student must participate in the SAT or ACT College Entrance Exam Program in both the junior and senior year of high school. The senior year requirement may be waived based on the junior year score.  The SDD program is undergoing a revision by district staff.  Class of 2019 students will follow the new criteria once established.

22 SCHOLAR DESIGNATION  In addition to meeting the 24-credit standard high school diploma requirements, a student must:  Earn 1 credit in Algebra II (must pass EOC);  Pass the Geometry EOC;  Earn 1 credit in Statistics or an equally rigorous mathematics course;  Pass the Biology I EOC;  Earn 1 credit in Chemistry or Physics;  Earn 1 credit in a course equally rigorous to Chemistry or Physics;  Pass the U.S. History EOC;  Earn 2 credits in the same World Language; and  Earn at least 1 credit in AP, IB, AICE or a dual enrollment course

24 DUAL ENROLLMENT - DSC  Must have earned credit in a high school course  3.0 minimum GPA required  PERT – limited to two attempts at DSC  Required PERT scores:  Reading – 106  Writing – 104  Math – 114 for MAT1033 or 123 for MAC1105 Must meet both scores  15 credits per semester maximum

25 DUAL ENROLLMENT - BCU  A minimum 3.0 unweighted G.P.A  Minimum Qualifying Test Scores on ONE of the following tests:  SAT- Math & Reading (≥ 440)  ACT- English & Math (≥ 17)  Compass Test (Testing available at the B-CU Testing Center)  eWrite-Essay (≥ 8)  Math(≥ 42)

28 MOVING UP  By the end of this year students should have:  1 credit in English  1 credit in Math (Algebra 1 or Geometry)  1 credit in Science (Earth Space Science or Biology Honors)  4 credits of electives  Students must earn at least 5 credits to be promoted to grade 10.
