2 LAUNCHING GRADEBOOK FROM YOUR DESKTOP 2 Enter your user name (10 digit NC#) and password. Click sign in.

3 POWERTEACHER GRADEBOOK When you launch PowerTeacher gradebook, the main PowerTeacher Gradebook window appears. This window serves as the central point from which you begin your gradebook session. 3

8 GRADEBOOK PREFERENCES 8 Use Preferences to customize various aspects of PowerTeacher gradebook, including the Final Grade column of the Scoresheet window, the Class List in the Classes pane, and Spell Check.Spell Check

9 PERSONAL COMMENTS BANK 9 Add comments to the Personal Comment Bank that will be available when assigning scores and comments to assignments and final grades. You can also edit and delete previously entered comments.

14 GRADEBOOK – CLASSES PANE The Classes pane appears in the upper-left corner of the PowerTeacher Gradebook window and includes the Semester Selector and Class List. 14

15 GRADEBOOK – STUDENT GROUPS The Student Groups pane appears in the center-left of the PowerTeacher Gradebook window and displays student groups for a selected class. 15

16 GRADEBOOK – CATEGORIES The Categories pane appears in the lower-left corner of the PowerTeacher Gradebook window and displays categories created by the teacher. 16

17 POWER TEACHER CREATING CATEGORIES 17 Click the plus (+) in the lower left-hand corner of the Categories window to add a new category (-) sign to delete old category Enter information into the appropriate fields By default, PowerTeacher gradebook includes four pre-defined categories: Homework, Project, Quiz, and Test.

18 POWERTEACHER TABS ON NAVIGATION BAR The navigation bar appears at the top of the PowerTeacher Gradebook window and provides a quick way to access the Scoresheet, Assignments, Student Info, Grade Setup, Class content, Reports, Attendance, & Notifications. 18

20 GRADE SETUP TAB T1, T2, T3, E1 SETUP - CATEGORY WEIGHTS 20 T1, T2, T3, E1 each must be setup individually. Always check dates.

21 GRADE SETUP – GRADING SCALE 21 To view grade scale click on grade scale button then arrow in gray button

22 GRADEBOOK-ASSIGNMENTS 22 Click the Assignments tab. Click the Plus (+) button.

23 GRADEBOOK-ASSIGNMENTS 23 Fill in the information & Click Save in the lower right corner to save the assignment. Teachers can also add a link to their assignments. It will show up in the Parent/Student Portals.

24 GRADEBOOK-ASSIGNMENTS 24 After entering an assignment, assignment information may be shared with administrators, parents, and students. In order for parents and student to view assignment information, you need to publish the assignment.

25 GRADEBOOK -ASSIGNMENTS 25 Associate standards to an assignment to allow the entry of standards based scores on that assignment.

27 RECORDING SCORES 27 When entering scores, match the type of score to what you set up when you created the assignment; numbers for points and percentage, letters for letter grades. Scores can be entered individually or entered using Quick entry methods. Click the assignment score field of the student for which you want to enter a score. The score field appears as an editable text field.

28 RECORDING SCORE 28 EX - marks an assignment Exempt (=) - assigns the maximum points possible MI or ( / ) - marks an assignment missing LT or ( * ) - marks an assignment late COL or (. ) - marks an assignment collected Choose Fill Scores to mass fill a specific score

29 RECORDING SCORES 29 If a majority of the students in your class got the same score on an assignment, you can use the Fill Scores tool to quickly enter student scores. Right-click the assignment details in the column heading, and select Fill Scores. Or, click the Tools menu, and select Fill Scores. Choose to Fill Empty Scores for the assignment, or to Replace All Scores for the assignment. Mark the assignment Collected, Late, Exempt, or enter the Score for the assignment. Click OK.

30 USING THE SCORE INSPECTOR 30 Just like the quick-entry methods, the Score Inspector also makes it possible to indicate if an assignment was received late, a student is exempt from completing the assignment, an assignment is missing, or you have collected the assignment without entering a point value. You can also use this tool to enter a score comment.

31 OVERRIDING A FINAL GRADE MANUALLY Occasionally, teachers will want to modify a student’s final grade in a course – based on effort, participation, or other classroom factors. The Score Inspector allows you to change a final grade with the Manual Override tool. 31

34 PT TABS – STUDENT INFO The Student Info window displays a list of students enrolled in a class and basic information about each student. 34

35 PT TABS - STUDENT INFO Click arrow in grey button to get information on individual students. 35

36 EXTRA CLASS COLUMNS 36 Five extra blank columns display on the Student Info window for entering student data specific to each class. You can label the columns and enter in any appropriate information, and you can add as many more columns as needed, to track an endless variety of information about the students.

37 TEACHER PERSONAL NOTE 37 Enter a personal note that applies to the selected student. This information is only viewable in this window.

38 CLASS CONTENT TAB 38 The Class Info mode contains basic information about the course you selected in the Classes pane. You can enter text in the Custom Display Name field to personalize your class list and enter text in the Description field to communicate with parents about class rules and your expectations of students, or give an overview of the course and any other information that would be of interest to parents.

39 SCHOOL CONTENT 39 The School Content mode contains links to websites and information on the web. This information is compiled by your PowerTeacher Administrator. Content is available to be placed in the Class Info description and the assignment description. The link will be listed in the Description text box along with any other information entered.

40 MY CONTENT 40 Specific information such as a document or web site link that is geared to a course, section, or teacher displays in the My Content mode.
