7 IAEA Wednesday, 25 November 2015 INIS Training Seminar 7 In 2008, Bulgaria, China, Germany, ETDE, Finland, Japan, Malaysia and Vietnam used the CAI batch processing mode to process 13,424 records Since 2005, the number of records processed by CAI batch has increased to 37,004 At the request of the INIS Liaison Officers, a remote access feature to CAI was set up and implemented in June 2007 and is available at the CAI website (https://cai.iaea.org) External access to CAI provides secure connection and encryption This was tested during 2007 and 2008 by Argentina, Brazil, China, the Czech Republic, ETDE, France, Germany, India, Japan, Switzerland, Uruguay and Uzbekistan Since May 2008, remote access to CAI is being provided to all Member States as a regular service of the INIS  Computer-Assisted Indexing System (CAI)

8 IAEA Wednesday, 25 November 2015 INIS Training Seminar 8 MET is a new tool developed and tested by INIS The objective is to automate INIS record creation using PDF files Tool allows capture of text from original PDF reformatting of content according to INIS input rules verification against INIS Authorities production of bibliographic files in TTF and their export to INIS production system Tool allowed significant handling improvements and the facilitation of data capture A basic set of validation rules has been implemented and the final check is done by FIBRE and the production system  Metadata Extraction Tool (MET)

9 IAEA Wednesday, 25 November 2015 INIS Training Seminar 9 The most significant project of the past four years has been conversion of the INIS collection of ‘grey’, non- conventional literature (NCL) from microfiche to digital media About 60 percent of this microfiche collection has been digitized. To be finished in 2 years Searchable full-text documents in PDF were uploaded to the INIS online database, respecting the public access authorization of INIS Members. In 2008 NCL collections of 29 States have been converted from microfiche to digital medium Digitized country sets are available online from the INIS Database and were provided as a separate set to Member States 30,000 of US NCL reports have been digitized by INIS, reviewed by OSTI, and given authorization for open access to the full text Other projects Back volumes of the English and French versions of the ‘IAEA Bulletin’ IAEA General Conference documents dating back to 1957 Documents of the Board of Governors of the past 50 years IUREP publications available at the IAEA on World Uranium Resources 11 volumes of the series ‘Directory of Nuclear Reactors’ In October 2008 a document providing information about the digital preservation processes carried out by the INIS has been published  Digital Preservation
