2 2 What to learn and why If you develop and rebuild your Blackboard course shells semester after semester, you may wish you had a more efficient way to move course materials from one course shell to another. Here is an easy way to save your time so you need not rebuild your course shell from scratch each time!

3 3 We are moving! …moving into a new course shell is just like moving into a new house… Chris: Isn’t it great that we are going to move to our new home Fun Clerkship Village?! Katie: Wow! The only thing I worry about is we have hundreds of items… Chris: Don’t worry. Let’s do it step by step.

4 4 Packing, cleaning, and moving Chris: Before we move to our new home, we need to do two things: First, we will pack our stuff. Then, we will clean. Finally, we will move our package into our new house. Katie: Good idea! Packing, cleaning, and moving – Let’s start now.

5 5 Now click on the “Control Panel” button on the left at the bottom of the old course homepage. Step 1 Packing Chris: Let’s pack first. Here is the task list for packing: Control Panel  Archive (at the bottom on your left)  Save as (Highlighted. You won’t miss it.)  Save on your desktop. Then our stuff will be packed and put on our desktop. Let’s do it now, honey. Katie: Let’s try…Wow! This is really easy and fun.

6 6 Archive Course Then click on “Archive Course” link.

7 7 Submit Click the “Submit” button.

8 8 Save As… Right click or click on the link to SAVE on your computer.

9 9 File Download Then click “Save” to save the archive file on your computer.

10 10 Save on the Desktop... so it will be easy to find later.

11 11 Step 2 Cleaning Chris: Great job! Now we are ready to clean our new house. It is even easier. Katie: Let’s start! Chris: We just need to enter our Control Panel, then enter Manage Course Menu, and clean out all the old items by clicking the “Removing” button of each item.

12 12 Clean To clean our new home for our stuff to move in, let’s click “Manage Course Menu” on the Control Panel of the new course.

13 13 Remove Remove all the items we do not need in our new course.

14 14 Step 3 Moving Katie: This is fun. Then we can move our package from our desktop into our new home now, right? Chris: Definitely. Let’s follow this moving list: Control Panel (in our new house)  Import Package  Browse to locate the file  Select course materials  Submit.

15 15 Import package Aha! Now it is time to move the package from our desktop.

16 16 Browse to locate the file “Browse” to select your package on the desktop.

17 17 Select course materials You may also make sure what you want to keep from your old home after you move your stuff in. Check all of the boxes listed under “Select Course Materials”.

18 18 Submit Wow! You are almost done.

19 19 We did it Katie and Chris: Congratulations! How nice our new Clerkship home is! Let’s see what we did. It is pretty simple: First, we packed our stuff by archiving our old course. Then, we cleaned our new house by removing those unnecessary items. Finally, we moved our package into our new house by importing the archived course package.
