2. Introduction  This course is designed to be the equivalent of a first year college chemistry course  Objective is to obtain a score of 3 or better on the AP Exam given in May  Score of 3 or above qualifies the student for college credit at most universities

3. Objectives  Understand basic components of matter and how they create all the different forms that exist  Be able to apply chemical concepts to everyday life  Be able to perform mathematical calculations pertaining to chemistry

4.  Be able to use logic and critical thinking skills to solve problems – Scientific Method  Safely utilize appropriate laboratory techniques in testing scientific hypothesis

5. Grading  Grades based on tests (~70%), labs (~20%) and homework (~10%)

6. Classroom Rules  Be respectful  Be prepared  Follow all safety rules and teacher directions
