7. Safety around water Actually all of them can be dangerous, even the puddle and the pond. It is possible to drown in even a tiny amount of water so it is important to always be very careful around any water.

8. Safety around water When you are on a farm this could be ponds, lakes, streams, rivers or even drinking troughs; always be careful not to go too close!

9. Safety around water You can also find grain stores and slurry lagoons (places where animal manure mixed with water is stored) on farms. Safety around water If someone you are with does get into trouble with water then you should do the following: 1.Get help – Alert an adult or call 999 or 112 for the emergency services. 2.Reach – See if you can reach the person in the water. 3.Wade – Wade in to see if you can help them out. 4.Throw – Throw a floatation aid out to the person. 5.Row – If possible row a boat out to the person to try to help.

11. Safety around water If you phone the emergency services you will need to explain which service you need (fire brigade, police or ambulance) and where you are. If you do not know exactly where you are try to think of a nearby landmark, road or junction.
