3  The Qur’an  Revelations of Mohammed  Mohammad received word of Allah (god)  Mecca to Median  Later returned to Mecca  First memorized, then written down

4 1. Confession of faith - One god Allah, prophet is Mohammed 2. Prayer - Pray 5 times a day, facing Mecca 3. Charity - Give alms to poor, donate money to mosque 4. Fasting - Ramadan (9th month) fast during daylight 5. Pilgrimage - Each must make holy pilgrimage to Mecca (hajj)
