2 Introduction  Onesimus Nessib Seminary (ONS): https://onseminary.wordpress.com/https://onseminary.wordpress.com/  Website created for educational purposes during this course.  In this Mekane Yesus church seminary one can study three year diploma and four year degree programs in theology.  Course curriculum - DG 124 IT (Information Technology)  This course offers basic computer operating skills focusing on use of Word program and typing. 2 Credits

3 Information Technology (IT)  Information and communication  Today information is mainly transferred in internet (online).  Internet is a network connection of computers which enables remote communication.  Online education terminology: eLearning and eTeaching.  Computers  Mainframe computers, used by large companies or organizations.  Personal computers (PC) used at home and office.  Tablets and smart phones.

4 What is a computer?  An electronic device that stores, retrieves and processes data.  Can be programmed with instructions.  Computer is composed of hardware and software, and can exist in a variety of sizes and configurations.  Used for remote communication, games and working.

6 Computers consist of hardware and software  Hardware  All the machinery and equipment in a computer system.  Tangible - “Everything you can touch is hardware.”  Software  All the instructions that tell the computer how to perform a task.  Intangible - “Not touchable information and instructions used by the computer.”  Operating system (OS) is the main software program.

Monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers 3. Windows operating system, Word program 4. Yes. By using Word program or other similar text editing tool. 5. Internet is also called the World Wide Web. It is a network connection of computers. 6. Yes. Printer is used to output documents and picture on a paper. 7. By using Bible study software, typing and preparing sermons, listening to recordings, music and watching videos.
