3 Vibration -A back and forth motion How sound is produced- sound is produced by someone or something is plucking, pushing, or blowing through it. Sound waves- are vibrations through air, material, or surface.

4 Sound is produced by strings by plucking, strumming, or bowing the string or strings. If you pluck a rubber band it vibrates and makes a twanging sound. When you strum a guitar the metal strings vibrate and make a cool sound. When you bow a violin, viola, or a cello, you hear a beautiful sound. You can’t really see it when the strings vibrate on the violin, viola, or cello.

5 Compression - The part of a sound wave where molecules are crowded together. Rarefaction - The part of sound wave where molecules are spread apart.

6 Solids - Sound can travel through some solids, but not something like a 23 inch solid chocolate cube. Most solids that are hollow on the inside, let sound travel through it. Other solids, however, are hard to let sound travel through. Liquids -If you have ever gone swimming in a pool with a friend, you probably went underwater and tried to guess what the other person was saying, right? Well if you have you can hear them the sound is diluted. Sound can travel through liquids. Gases - Have you ever heard a person from far away? That proves that sound can go through gases. There is nothing stopping, or blocking sound from traveling.
