1 Combining Hot, cold, and warm water! By: Matt and Monica

2 What was the lab about? We wanted to see how the temperature would change when we combined two different types of water. We wanted to see how the temperature would change when we combined two different types of water. The types of water we used was hot water, 90 degrees Celsius, room temperature water, about 22 degrees Celsius, and ice water, about 9 degrees Celsius. 3 What did we think would happen?  When the two different temperatures of water combined, the temperature would either drop.

4 What were the variables that affected the lab?  The independent variable was the temperature of the water( hot, room temperature, and ice water).  Then for the dependent variable was the final temperature of the combined water. Ice WaterRoom Temperature Hot Water (90 degrees) 2 trials

5 What did we do in this lab? First we measured 15 milliliters of the water we were going to combined in a small beaker. Then we measured another 15 milliliters of water that we were going to combined with the first 15 milliliters of water. Then we combined the two different types of water and recorded the temperature on data studio.

6 What stayed the same in the lab? We had the same equipment and the same amounts of water.

7 What data did we collect? Only one of our two graphs.

8 What was the conclusion of the lab? As we combined the two different waters the temperatures dropped. All the temperatures dropped to about 66 degrees Celsius. As the data showed our hypothesis was supported. When the different waters combined the particles slowed down causing the temperature to drop. This means that when we combined the waters together the energy from the warmer water went into the colder water. This leads me to ask a question when we add to colder waters together what would happen?
