2. Transitions  Use a transitional phrase from one paragraph to another  Each paragraph must stay on one topic/idea  Every body paragraph must link back to an idea in your thesis

3. Textual Support  Use textual support to back up your argument/thesis  Either a direct quote or paraphrase will work in this situation  Always introduce the quote, don’t just drop in the quote

4. Ask yourself  At the end of every paragraph, ask yourself “Am I answering the question?”  Also, ask yourself “Am I summarizing or analyzing?”  Link back to listen to your instincts
