1 Keystone Review - Homeostasis 1.A – Shivering raises body temperature by generating heat in muscle tissue. 2.A – Excretion of a thick paste helps conserve water, which is helpful in a desert. 3.D – A rabbit hiding to avoid a hawk is not an example of homeostasis 4.C – Myoglobin removes oxygen from the blood as it passes through body tissues, reducing the amount of oxygen in blood returning to the lungs.

2 Keystone Review - Homeostasis 4. C – Myoglobin removes oxygen from the blood as it passes through body tissues, reducing the amount of oxygen in blood returning to the lungs.

3 Keystone Review - Homeostasis A.The consumption of a lager meal, which is digested to glucose and then absorbed by the body, will raise the level of blood glucose. B.A healthy person will release insulin. This hormone reduces the blood glucose level back to its normal concentration of 90 mg/ 100ml. C.A person with type II diabetes is less sensitive to insulin, and it will take longer for them to reduce blood glucose level back to its normal level after they consume a large meal. Therefore the blood glucose level will remain high for a longer period of time.
