1 People, Occupations, and Work Environments can be classified by the six categories listed below. People who choose careers that match their own types are most likely to be both satisfied and successful. Your SDS report can help you to understand more about yourself and how your individual skills and interests are related to your career choice.

3 Possible answers: A job is something your do temporarily while a career can last a long time. The training and education required for a career is more extensive then a job. A career typically comes with a higher salary and benefits. A job is typically minimum wage and has little to no benefits. The level of satisfaction is higher with a career then with a job. A career is something you choose to do while a job is something you get stuck with. A job is something you do for the money, a career is something you choose because you enjoy it or because of a goal you want to accomplish. A career is something you are passionate about – a job is what you have to do.

35 Click Here to begin the Career Interest Profiler

36 When you have completed the assessment you will be given a summary that describes and explains your results. You can also view a list of matching careers

37 The list of careers are divided by the level of education required.

38 When you select a career you will be able to view various details about that occupation. Click Here to search similar or related occupations Click Here to search similar related college majors

39 If you have an interest in this career add it to your list of favorite careers and clusters. You can review this list by returning to the home screen and selecting the careers tab.

40 Click on About Me to access other important inventories and surveys. Click Here to begin your journal entries and to review other information about you. This can also be accessed by your teachers and counselors to use when discussing future career and educational plans.

41 Read and review the Holland Power Point – This will help you to better understand the results of your career interest profiler. Complete the Career Interest Profiler – Using the Naviance Orientation power point, navigate your way to the Family Connections portal and log in. Once you are logged in locate the careers tab and select the career interest profiler and complete the survey. Identify possible careers – Once you have finished the career interest profiler, identify 5 or more careers in which you have an interest. Add these to your list of favorite careers and clusters. 42 Lastly – Journal Entry – Find and select the tab all “About Me” – Next find the “Journal” link – Once you have found the link and selected it add a new journal entry and in the subject line title it as Career Interest Profile – Share this entry with your counselors, teachers, and parents. – Now write an essay reacting to the results of your Career Interest Profile. Your journal entry should address the questions below – Describe three things that you learned from the completing the activity. 8 lines – 5 minutes (Collins Type 1) – What impact did completing the activity have on your thoughts about your future career choices. 5 minutes (Collins Type 2) Your Assignment Connection.naviance.com/lebanonshs
