7 Characteristics of Exemplary Leadership  Work independently at an area around the room.  Read the statements in your envelope.  Place them in the order of importance as a leader (top- most important, bottom- less important)

8 Leadership Kouzes and Posner  Model the Way Find your voice by clarifying your personal values. Set the example by aligning actions with shared values.  Inspire a Shared Vision Envision the future by imagining exciting and ennobling activities. Enlist others in a common vision by appealing to shared aspirations.  Challenge the Process Search for opportunities by seeking innovative ways to change, grow and improve. Experiment and take risks by constantly generating small wins and learning from mistakes.  Enable Others to Act Foster collaboration by promoting cooperative goals and building trust. Strengthen others by sharing power and discretion.  Encourage the Heart Recognize contributions by showing appreciation for individual excellence. If so, what?  Which commitment is not on the list that you think should be added?

14 Scenario  You are the new Assistant principal at Howard School. You notice in your first few weeks, that a paraeducator routinely comes in 30 minutes before the official start of the work day. However, she frequently leaves with the kids when the busses leave. One day in October, you over hear other members of the school staff discussing how they feel it is unfair that the paraeducator leaves before contractual hours almost everyday. What are the steps you would take to resolve this problem?
