1 Significance Of The Last Section Of “We Didn’t Start The Fire”
“Wheel of Fortune”, Sally Ride. Heavy metal, suicide Foreign Depts., homeless vets, AIDS, Crack, Bernie Goetz Hypodermics on the shores, Rock and Roller Cola Wars, Chinas under material law, I cant take it anymore. We didn’t start the fire, It was always burning, Since the world’s been turning, No we didn’t light it, But we tried to fight it. By Julia Rusk, Amanda Safko, and Matt Rains

2 “Wheel Of Fortune” A TV game show in the 1970’s which airs five days a week. A game of hangman and a huge wheel to determine your prize, such as money. Chuck Woolsey and Susanna Stafford as the hosts for the show.

3 Sally Ride Sally was the first woman in space in 1983 aboard the challenger. She later created Sally Ride Science, which supported all females interested in science.

4 Heavy Metal In 1980’s Ozzie Osborne, Metallica, and Judaist priests were brought to court by parents who accused the bands for hiding suicide messages in their songs.

5 Foreign Depts. Foreign Depts. were causing an increase in inflation and taxes rose. As receipts and outlays began to rise in the 1950’s, surplus or deficits began to decline.

6 Suicide A Christian destructive dooms day colt found and led by Jim Jones in the 1980’s. A suicide of over nine hundred people, including some of his followers. Which my the public support anti colts and counter colt movements.

7 Homeless Vets The disabled and non disabled Vietnam Vets are reported homeless. Veterans were typical to spend there money on drugs and alcohol in the united states. Being shunned and ignored didn’t help either as they came back home from the war.

8 Crack Crack spread as a highly addictive and popular drug in the United States throughout the late 1900’s

9 AIDS In the 1983, a virus began that attacks the immune system weakening it. This was most commonly found in gay men, and was soon thought to be a Gay Mans Disease, which was proved false after it began to spread to others.

10 Bernie Goetz In 1984, Bernie was a New Yorker who was concerned about crime in the city. Four African American boys demanded five dollars from him and Bernie pulled out a gun and shot all of them paralyzing one, yet he only went to jail for 8 months for illegal possession of fire arms

11 Hypodermics on the shores
Throughout 1988, New York families vacationed on The New Jersey Shore. The beaches became more contaminated with garbage including hypodermics needs, which, grew concern for HIV/AIDS epidemic and people considered it the governments fault. This cause complaints and protests about the safety of the beaches.

12 China’s under material law
In 1989, China declares martial law enabling them to use force of arms against protesting students to end the Tenement Square Protest. Hundreds of peaceful protesting students died that day, angering many.

13 Rock and Roller Cola Wars
In when Pepsi and Coca-Cola battled for better supremacy in the market place. Paula Abdul was hired for coke while Pepsi had Michael Jackson and both tried to at do each other by getting others to help promote their drinks.
