Hemipleat Retrofit Filters Customer field test / First six months results > Press spacebar to advance each slide, or ESC to stop the presentation.

Outline Installation History 2005 costs Evaluation of alternatives Six months performance data Business benefits Conclusions

Installation History Three Torit Downflo II DF4-32 cartridge dust collectors exhausting three independent thermal spray booths used for metalizing aircraft engine parts Each collector has a top mounted 20HP fan sized for 8,000 CFM @ 10” WC. In 2005 customer changed filters four times

Dust collector filter costs in 2005 Customer was purchasing UltraWeb filters for $109 each Seven filters got wet in the warehouse and needed to be replaced @ $109 each = $763 total 32 filters per dust collector x $109 per UltraWeb filter = $3,488 per collector x 3 = $10,464 total Four filter changes in 2005 $10,464 per change 4x per year = $41,856 year 2005 Filter Cost = $42,619.00

Evaluation of alternatives In November 2005 the customer was interested in evaluating an alternative to UltraWeb filters to extend filter life and reduce operating costs. Dust Collector #1 32 UltraWeb Filters Dust Collector #2 and #3 64 Hemipleat Ultra-High Efficiency Filters

Performance data Monthly pressure drop readings for first six months This data was gathered from November 16, 2005 through April 3, 2006 The data was gathered and recorded by the Lead Thermal Technician responsible for the three thermal spray booths.

Business benefits Reduced costs- Purchased Hemipleat filters for $102 each instead of UltraWeb for $109 each $7 savings per filter x 32 filter = $224 per dust collector $224 per dust collector x 3 collectors = $672 per replacement Lower pressure drop Fewer replacements Higher efficiency UltraWeb filters are rated MERV 13 Hemipleat Ultra-High Efficiency filters are rated at MERV 16

Conclusions The six month pressure drop data combined with the historical performance data for the UltraWeb filters indicates that Hemipleat filters will deliver twice the service life than they have been getting with UltraWeb, reducing the number of filter changes from four to two per year. Hemipleat filters are water resistant, so they are not damaged if they get wet in inventory. Filter Costs - 2005 costs for UltraWeb filters: $42,619.00 Projected 2006 costs for Hemipleat filters: $19,584.00 Total annual savings with Hemipleat filters: $23,035.00
