5 Strategic Partnerships Program 2009-11 Program is continuing with existing level of funding plus an additional 2% per annum. Revised model. 3 categories Tailored accountability linked to category and level of funding Earlier notification Not for profit organisations

7 Model for 2009-11 Triennium Category 1 - role of CPTAV Category 2 – additional leadership role Category 3 program grants within 3 funding levels – * less than $25,000 * $25,000 - $49,000 * $50,000 + Each category has similar funding to current triennium Can only apply in one category Expected that a similar number of organisations will be funded.

8 Key Dates – Implementation Timeline for 2009-11 Triennium 8 February 2008 Letter to currently funded organisations on the new funding model. Will include information on designated category. 29 February 2008 Application process opens 11 April 2008 Applications close for all Categories’ programs 19 May 2008 Notifications to organisations completed June-October 2008 Memoranda of Understanding/contracts finalised for all categories November/December 2008 Establishment of SPP Advisory Group & Networks for 2009-11

10 ‘Obvious’ student learning challenges Implementing curriculum programs incorporating the VELS. –Combining domains Assessing and reporting against the VELS Implementing new Student Report Cards inc. A-E reporting

11 Deeper challenges Recognising and responding to diverse student learning needs. Requires: Building from what students know and are able to do plus clarity about next steps Focus on understanding Building learning capacity – skills and dispositions Engaging and challenging content Recognising and responding to changing student learning needs.

12 Principles of Learning and Teaching P-12 Students learn best when: The learning environment is supportive and productive The learning environment promotes independence, interdependence and self motivation Students' needs, backgrounds, perspectives and interests are reflected in the learning program Students are challenged and supported to develop deep levels of thinking and application Assessment practices are an integral part of teaching and learning Learning connects strongly with communities and practice beyond the classroom

18 The Ultranet will establish a school’s environment for the future Objectives of the Ultranet: improve responsiveness to individual learning needs provide better information to parents, the school system and Government improve efficiency of the learning environment and school administration adopt an enterprise approach to intranet development exploit previous ICT investments Key benefits of the Ultranet to the community: establish a school environment for the future improve the educational outcomes of Victorians reduce the administrative burden on teachers and school leaders reduce the future cost of education improve educational opportunities for regional, rural and remote Victorians

20 Knowledge Bank: Next Generation Increase access to emerging technologies and new on-line content Quality assure new forms of digital content and online communication Communicate effective practice to inform school and system development

21 Deliverables A single place to find and search for all digital education content held by the Department and other high quality providers Policy and rubrics to quality assure the appropriateness, accessibility and educational effectiveness of new digital content and tools New Web 2.0 and social networking tools to provide a cyber safe place for teachers and students to create, share and publish new knowledge.

22 Access Government schools will access through Ultranet Non government schools, education partners and other stakeholders will access through a redesigned KB interface. Timeline –May 2008: public launch –T2, 2008: 1 st round trials –T3, 2009: enhanced KB website released –2009: further trials
