Fetus at 18 weeks old.

Abortion Risks 1 in 50 abortions could possibly result in death of the mother. A study conducted by the Associated Press found that 75% of abortions result in parts of the fetus being left inside the uterus. –Which can result in numerous health problems in the future, such as infection.

Methods of Abortion Before 14 Weeks Suction Aspiration Dilation and Curettage After 14 Weeks Dilation and Evacuation Saline or Prostaglandin Late-Term Abortion Dilation and Extraction

 Suction and Aspiration Cone-shaped rods stretch cervical muscle. Powerful vacuum is inserted into the uterus. Doctor operates purely by feel. Uses powerful suction of vacuum to detach fetus parts, hoping he does not leave any parts behind.

 Suction and Aspiration

 Dilation and Curettage Cone-shaped rods stretch cervical muscle. Doctor uses loop-shaped knife to scrape wall of uterus, cutting fetus and placenta into smaller parts. Parts are pulled out of body through cervix.

 Dilation and Evacuation Medical instrument resembling pliers used to dismember body of baby and crush its skull. Dissected parts then removed from body through cervix. This procedure: requires cervix to be opened wider than other methods, therefore greater risk of harm to reproductive organs.

 Dilation and Evacuation

 Saline or Prostaglandin One of substances injected into amniotic fluid that surrounds fetus in uterus. Saline – poisonous substance that eventually kills the fetus. Prostaglandin – causes muscle tissue of mother to push fetus out of uterus. Both methods require mother to “give birth” to dead fetus. Labor usually long and painful.

 Dilation and Extraction (Partial Birth Abortion) Doctor grasps leg and pulls down through birth canal. Delivers body, then lodges skull at cervical opening. Makes incision at base of fetal skull, inserts suction catheter, and evacuates the skull. Skull collapses, dead baby then removed from mother’s body.

 Dilation and Extraction (Partial Birth Abortion)

Why would you not give this child a chance to live?
