16.  Abortion became legal in 1967. The cut-off was established at 28 weeks.  In 1990 the cut-off was moved back to the 24 th week (except when the woman’s life or mental wellbeing are at a serious risk, or there is evidence of serious foetal abnormality).

17.  Abortion is only legal when:  (a) it is carried out in a hospital or a licensed clinic and  (b) two doctors agree that an abortion would cause less damage to a woman's physical or mental health than continuing with the pregnancy.
