Response Example Read “How do I know if someone is using ASL or signed English?” (FHPO) Post: –According to the article, the difference between ASL and signed English is the grammatical structure including word order and facial grammar. Many ASL students fall into using signed English, and continual practice with ASL and interaction with the Deaf community help students transition to a more ASL signing style. I have personally noticed that some Deaf people will transfer to signed English when they are around someone that they know is hearing.
