29 Lets try grading some examples together…

30 Reflection Example What is your favorite Jelly Bean? Why? Post: –My favorite Jelly Bean flavor is the pear jelly bean because it really taste like a pear! Replies: –You like banana? Have you ever tried it with vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry to make a banana split. –That’s funny, did you know that the blue jelly bean was invented for President Nixon for his inaugural dinner? The wanted red, white and blue jelly beans, but there wasn’t yet a blue one.

31 Response Example Read “How do I know if someone is using ASL or signed English?” (FHPO) Post: –According to the article, the difference between ASL and signed English is the grammatical structure including word order and facial grammar. Many ASL students fall into using signed English, and continual practice with ASL and interaction with the Deaf community help students transition to a more ASL signing style. I have personally noticed that some Deaf people will transfer to signed English when they are around someone that they know is hearing. It is when another Deaf person comes up do they “code switch” to ASL. Replies: –Great job! –I thought it was interesting too…

32 Class Dictionary Class Dictionary #1 Post: –CRACKER Handshape: A Palm Orientation: Inward Location: Elbow Movement: Tap twice –APPLE Handshape: X Palm Orientation: Outward to inward Location: Chin Movement: Twist Replies –Wow! I love Ritz crackers. –APPLE is just like ONION, but the location for onion is near the eye not the chin.
