District Grants (TRF) New Name: Community Service Grants Same Focus: The Community Service Grant (CSG) is a tool that District 6000 uses to support short-term, humanitarian projects that benefit a community in District 6000.

Who Can Apply? Districts only: Each year the district will submit a spending plan to The Rotary Foundation to request DDF for use in this program. Clubs benefit: The spending plan is comprised of pre-approved D6000 club projects.

Timeline Districts may complete a spending plan and submit it as early as July 1 of each Rotary year.

How much money is available? The Districts may ask for as much as 50% of new DDF awarded in the current year.

An Example 2012-2013: The spending cap was $42,460. 2013-2014: Under the old model: $40,933. Under the new model: $102,358. Actual: $47,460.

An Example The maximum amount available is based on contributions D6000 Rotarians made to The Rotary Foundation three years ago. So, your contributions to The Rotary Foundation drive this program!

What goes into the spending plan? Your club project, if is recommended by the CSG committee and the Foundation Committee approves. In 2013-2014 all recommendations were approved.

Start planning now for next year. The CSG Committee will set a due date for applications. Maybe as early as May 2014. Clubs should begin to think now about a project they want to have funded in 2014-2015.

Plan ahead! Ideally, put your President-Elect on the steering committee for this project. When that person becomes President, carry out the project.

Plan Ahead You must attend a grant management seminar (GMS) in 2014. One club had a good application in 2013, but not funded because they did not attend a GMS!

Top five projects for 2013-2014 Ames Morning – Community Learning Center. Davenport – Davenport Rotary S.O.A.P. (Save Our adolescents from Prostitution) North Scott – Youth/Teen/Adult Summer Reading Program 2013-2014.

Top five projects for 2013-2014 West Liberty – Ron-de-Voo Park. West Des Moines – Bicycle Project
