PH proposal for Medium Term Plan PH request 1.Operation prospects shown by Jose Essentially constant, with increase for few general aspects (training, infrastructure, safety) Compensation for the end of White Paper exploitation 2.New Project money requested for New initiatives (CLOUD, NA62, AEGIS) SLHC upgrades LCD R&D 3.5% increase of manpower for new initiatives, LCD and few key positions (designer, mechanical eng…) Now under discussion by Directors –News very soon (MTP should be presented to the SPC meeting on May 4 th ) Discussion on LD plan depends strongly on point 3 above

4. LD→IC & contract policy LD→IC –23 slots (14 DCRBs) open for 43 candidates 8 for cat 5 (2004 peak) –Candidates have been informed –Boards from 20/04 to 20/05 If council agrees, new contract policy in place for September –LD : 5 years, no extension –LD→IC: published as internal position, only for LD holders candidates apply on their own initiative (typically in 4 th year), multiple applications allowed. CERN wide board including recruiting department members.

5. Cat 1 matters 4 LD positions opened –2 in May (board 25-26/ 05) –2 in autumn Will increase to 5 in 2010, and probably 6 in 2011 IC position opened. Application mandatory by 19/06/09. Chair: H.
