5 OR and NOR When two or more noun antecedents are joined by OR or NOR, choose the pronoun referent to agree with the antecedent CLOSEST TO THE VERB. Examples: Neither Mary nor her daughters will bring their husbands to the game. Either the cats or the dog is outside.
