1 American Cancer Society 2011 RELAY FOR LIFE of University of Iowa APRIL 15-16 7pm – 7am Don’t Stop Believin’ !

2 What is Relay For Life?  Relay brings together everyone on campus and in the community, for one cause…to FIGHT CANCER!  Relay is Life-Changing!  At Relay, participants will CELEBRATE the lives of those who battled cancer, REMEMBER those loved ones lost, and FIGHT BACK!

3 2011 Relay For Life Theme Is… Don’t Stop Believin’ Totally 80’s

4 As Team Captain/Rep  Build a team!  Encourage & motivate your team to succeed expectations!  Spotlight those team members who are going above and beyond.  Keep all team participants in the loop.

5 Raise $100 to get a T-shirt and Jimmy Johns at Relay! If you don’t raise $100 you will still get breakfast from Panera, Coca Cola products, and get to participate in most activities.

6 What can $5.00 do for you? EVERYraider- UI.mov Send it out in emails! Post it online! Get donations!

7 48 in 48 Challenge  Raise $48 in 48 hours!  For every $48 raised from noon Sat-Mon, your name will be put in a drawing for a Sony flip video camera.

8 Team Captains – Bring in your team member packets! When: Tuesday, April 12 th, 6pm-8pm Where: IMU, Lucas Dodge Room IMU Details: Bring in all your team packets. Your team members’ donations will be totalled including online, cash & checks. Team members who raise $100 will receive a Relay shirt and a wrist band (for Jimmy John’s food)

9 What to expect at Relay For Life 2011. Relay For Life Details…

10 When: 6pm is the start of registration so please arrive with time to check-in before the opening ceremony at 7pm. Where: UI Recreation Building (930 Evashevski Drive, just northwest of Kinnick Football Stadium)

11 What to bring:  Money  Water bottle  Drinks (non-alcoholic)  Snacks/Dinner  Towel and extra set of clothes if you plan on doing the pudding slip and slide  Tent  Blankets and a pillow  Chairs  Decorations for your campsite  80’s outfits: Be able to move around in whatever you wear along with walk around a track.

12 Entertainment Some Fun Games: Pudding Slide N’ Slide, Tailgating Olympics ($10), Dance Off, Bags Tournament, and more! Performances By: Iowa Andhi, U of I Juggalos, Intersection, UI Breakers and inspirational talks from cancer SURVIVORS and CAREGIVERS!

13 Team competition Get involved in activities and earn points towards prizes at the end of the night Each competition is worth spirit points

14 Luminaria  A Luminaria Bag is symbol of HONOR, HOPE, & COURAGE of those who have been profoundly affected by cancer.  Individuals can purchase them (suggested donation). Remind your team to bring money to the event.  All Luminaria will be illuminated and respected during the Luminary Ceremony.  Throughout the ceremony we will be projecting pictures of Why people Relay.
