3. About Us. We are an organization that focuses on animal rights and the protection of animals. The 4 major areas that we work on the most consist of: factories, farms, laboratories, clothing and entertainment industry. PETA stands for People of the Ethical Treatment of Animals. We believe that animals are no ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment. It was founded in 1980 by Ingrid Newkirk and Alex Pacheco. It was dedicated to establishing the rights of animals. We have about 2 million members, but the more the merrier.

4. Conservation Efforts  PETA educates the policy makers and the public about animal abuse.  PETA promotes better treatment of animals.  Some of the animals that they are trying to help save are the silver spring monkeys, sheep, and chickens from KFC.  They are also trying to help the hamsters that are being abused at one of the pet stores.

7. Financial Reports 84% of the money that they raise goes to the actual PETA funds, the other 16 percent goes to the employees. Over 28 million dollars has been donated to our foundation. We’ve made one million dollars selling our products. Most of that money goes to campaigns, public outreach and education, research, investigations, and rescue. We have 161 employees that are paid. We are a non-profit organization. We made a little over a million dollars selling products with our logo such as shirts and sweatshirts.

8. Our Locations Our main headquarters is located in Norfolk, Virginia. We focus our efforts in: The United Kingdom, Germany, The Netherlands, India, and The Asia-Pacific Region. We also have locations in the following places: France, Australia, Deutschland, Canada, Italy, Spain, South Africa, and Taiwan.
