2  1. Black Plague- a plague struck every for years and caused many hundreds of deaths, this was one of them. Black spots would appear on your body hence black plague.  2. Smallpox- Smallpox is serious, contagious, and sometimes fatal disease. Queen Elizabeth got it, but she recovered with no real damage.  3. Syphilis- arrived in Europe from America, it was not was not harmful until done so after it became aggressive, virulent, and fatal.  4. Scurvy- it was brought about by a diet lacking in vitamin C. Sailors were easy victims because they were at sea.  5. Malaria- it thrived in the marshes of the south bank of the Thames. It is a mosquito transmitted disease given by a parasite.

3  Black Plague  The cure is antibiotics.  Smallpox  There is no cure but you can get a vaccination for it.  Syphilis  The cure is penicillin.  Scurvy  There is no cure.  Malaria  The cure is chloroquine.

4  The doctors of today usually use shots and vaccines, like the typhoid shot. The doctors of the Elizabethan Era used medicine like poultices of different herbs, roots, or flowers, like mint, comfrey, rose, lavender, lily root, and even dried toad! The doctors of today sometimes still use poultices of roots and herbs, but not as often as before.
