CIS 1-A: Introduction to Information Systems Week Three: March 10th Stefan Bund

traditional modular housing

traditional modulars not too inspiring

how a modular comes together, by efficiency

modulars in production

luxury modulars change the ballgame, living homes

the living homes innovation sparks a revolution

constructing a luxury home efficiently becomes trendy

the early luxury modulars tended to appeal to a certain demographic

faraway locales become provinces to cultivate, bring luxury to the land

architects, designers, tech entrepreneurs and other culturati pushed the genre to include high efficiency designs, here solarized

10 pushing the dream house into new and interesting places

obeying the formula, high efficient construction enables more expansive places to build

12 but when you say modular houses, you rarely get understood by the average homebuyers, who seeks the traditional look and feel

a house that says, 'house'

traditionally, modular means 'made out of egg cartons'

for most homebuyers, modular is misunderstood, often associated with less traditional building

more often than not, causing the buyer to imagine that their home is not built by human hands

we traditionally value things built by trained craftspeople

here, the traditional frame is crafted for the high end buyer

and traditional style communicates traditional building techniques

however, as riverside county expands dramatically, we must do it economically

reducing the price of the cost of making homes and living spaces must keep pace with changing values toward debt, and financial responsibility

after more than half a decade of economic austerity, our generational value may have changed, to favor frugality

what will the riverside of the future look like?

we must accommodate the needs of the public, while designing a happy way of life

history suggests that as population increases, urbanization follows

but is this the future for riverside?

the reality is, the expansion of riverside county will fill up massive unbuilt areas

the future will bring natural spaces and the human needs together, hence a harkening back to humanity's settlement upon open spaces, and quiet expanses

and the construction of homes inside the land, not just upon it

the riverside county general plan provides for single family, detached structures, not urbanized shipping crate cities, and the provision of family-focused homes

this is not the picture of the future of riverside county...

this is -- but would you believe that this, and every image I will show you, are all modular, factory built homes?

ENERGY EFFICIENT, AND POTENTIALLY LOCALLY ASSEMBLED, THE FAMILY HOME OF THE FUTURE WILL LOOK LIKE THOSE OF THE PAST

as much as we love the modern experiment, families long for the traditional ideal, that says family home

and yet as far as we have come, creating the technology of the future, the future will likely look like the past

but built in a week, perhaps 2 weeks, tops

AND WITH DRASTIC EFFICIENCY IN CRAFTING HOMES, THE PRICE WILL DECLINE, MAKING MORE IDYLLIC, DREAMLIKE HOMES MORE ACCESSIBLE
