2 Definition of Geothermal Heat Geothermal heat is power from heat stored in the earth.

3 How it works A big geothermal heat pump moves heat out of the earth to heat or make your house cooler.

4 How it works Geothermal wells use steam to make electricity. The steam spins turbines. The turbines start to spin magnets in coils of copper wire to create electricity and the plants are really close to the wells.

5 3 advantages It is cheaper than constructing oil, gas, coal or making a nuclear power plant. It does not pollute anything. It also does not take up a lot of room.

6 3 disadvantages It is very hard to find a good building spot, some gases can be released, sometimes a site may stop producing heat for a long time.
