2 First Quarter Reading Students will be able to… Understand the difference between letters vs. word. Understand upper and lower case letters of the alphabet. Know letter sounds. Writing Students will be able to… Orally express ideas. Draw a picture to express ideas. Math Students will be able to… Understand the meanings and uses of numbers to independently count forward by ones from 1 to 25 Put numerals in order from 0 to 10. Science/Health/Social Studies Through classroom discussions, non-fiction books and videos, as well as hands-on activities, students will be exposed to the topics of: Trees Seasons-Fall Bus Safety Fire Safety Self-Car/Concept skills Family Classroom Community Holidays

3 Second Quarter Reading Students will… Track print from left to right. Point to each word when reading. Understand the difference between letters vs. word. Recognize space between words. Identify parts of a book (front cover, back cover, title page, author, and illustrator). Rhyme (identifying and producing). Blend (blends sounds into a single syllable word i.e. c-a-t = cat). Identify beginning sounds and ending sounds. Segment sounds in words (i.e. cat = c-a-t). Identify onset and rhyme (i.e. c-at). Identify upper and lower case letters of the alphabet. Produce letter sounds. Identify letter digraphs: ch, sh, th, wh. Recognize introduced kindergarten sight words. Writing Students will begin to… Orally express ideas. Write upper case and lower case letters. Draw a variety of pictures to express ideas. Add details to pictures. Label parts of the picture by stretching out words (sounding out words). Attempt to write a sentence Write from left to right.

Identify parts of a book (front cover, back cover, title page, author, and illustrator). Rhyme (identifying and producing). Blend (blends sounds into a single syllable word i.e. c-a-t = cat). Identify beginning sounds and ending sounds. Be able to segment sounds in words (i.e. cat = c-a-t). Be able to identify onset and rhyme (i.e. c-at). Science/Health/Social Studies Through classroom discussions, non-fiction books and videos, as well as hands-on activities, students will be exposed to the topics of: Animals Seasons-Spring Dental Health Self-Care/Concept skills Family Classroom Community Holidays

7 Fourth Quarter Reading Students will… Read from left to right. Understand the difference between letters vs. word. Recognize space between words. Point to each word when reading Identify parts of a book (front cover, back cover, title page, author, and illustrator). Rhyme (identifying and producing). Blend (blends sounds into a single syllable word (i.e. c-a-t=cat). Identify beginning sounds and ending sounds. Segment sounds in words (i.e. cat=c-a-t). Identify onset and rhyme (i.e. c-at). Identify upper and lower case letters of the alphabet. Use word analysis to decode letter sounds and digraphs; ch, sh, th, wh. Recognize introduced kindergarten sight words. Be able to read simple words using decoding strategies. Begin to retell information from a story-beginning/middle/end/ Begin to respond to comprehension questions. Begin to identify short vowel word families. Writing Student will… Draw a variety of pictures to express ideas. Add details to pictures. Label parts of the picture by stretching out words (sounding out words). Write from left to right. Draw a picture and write a corresponding sentence. Show growth in the use of classroom print resources to write sight words. Show growth in using punctuation at the end of a sentence (. ! ?). Show growth in putting spaces between the words. Begin to identify names and values of a penny, nickel, dime, and quarter. Begin to use objects to solve number stories. Begin to use numbers and/or pictures to solve problems. 9 Specials PE Students will be able to demonstrate rolling a ball towards a targeted area using two hands and standing on both feet Student will follow movement directions - Start, Stop, and Travel Safely. Students will be able to kick a stationary ball by swinging one leg from the knee in a forward motion. Students will be able to demonstrate a throw towards a targeted area using one hand. Students will be able to differentiate between a walk and run. Music The students will be able to: Differentiate between singing and speaking voice. Differentiate between sound and silence. Echo sing with the teacher. Differentiate between loud and soft. Demonstrate an awareness of steady beat. Art In the “ Elements of Art ” unit, students will be able to apply their knowledge of various types of line (straight, wavy, zigzag) and geometric shape (circle, square, rectangle, oval) to a completed piece of art.
