1 - Is the right to use certain part of the roadway when two or more users of the roadway want to use it at the same time. 1.Law requires you to give up your right-of-way if you have the last clear chance of avoiding a crash. 2.Right of way is given by someone. 3.Never assume that others will give the right-of -way to you, even if you legally have the right-of-way. 4.Never demand or insist on taking the right-of-way. 2 Four Types of Intersections a.uncontrolled Right -of-Way at Intersections

4 c. Controlled with stop signs on all corners RIGHT-HAND RULE: Drivers on the left should give the right-of-way to drivers on the right.

5 d.Signal-controlled At uncontrolled or controlled and intersections with flashing red or broken signals lights, the first vehicle approaching or entering the intersection has the right-of -way.

9 Special Situations (right-of-way) 1. Yield to an emergency vehicle (police, fire, ambulance)- Move to the far right as possible

10 2. Yield to a blind person carrying a white cane or using a guide dog.
