2 Provincial Demand Set March 22, 23 Negotiations 2014 It is time for our wages to reflect the professional work we do. The contracting out of our work must stop. Academic decisions in our classrooms must be made by faculty. Workload formulas must reflect our actual workload, no matter how the courses are taught. We need more Full-Time faculty. We need job security and defined workloads for Partial-Load faculty.

3 The Timeline Mar 22, 23 2014 ✓ Demand-Setting Meeting April-May 2014 – Getting the word out ✓ April 24 - Report on Education – May 13 - London Town Hall – May 15 - Sudbury Town Hall – May 22 - Ottawa Town Hall – May 23 - Ottawa Symposium on Academic Freedom and Quality Education in the Colleges Apr-May 2014 – Demands put into contract language – Bargaining agenda and strategies set Jun-Aug 2014 – June 2 - earliest possible date to give notice to bargain – Contract expires August 31 at midnight Negotiations 2014

4 Question Q: Can the College Employer Council bring an offer directly to the general membership for a vote?

5 Colleges Collective Bargaining Act (CCBA) Vote on Council’s offer 17. (2)17. (2) The Council may, no earlier than 15 days before the expiry of a collective agreement, make a request in writing to the Ontario Labour Relations Board that a vote of the employees be taken to accept or reject the offer of the Council last received by the employee organization in respect of all matters remaining in dispute between the parties to the collective agreement. (emphasis added)
