3 How It’s Related To The Midwest The Great Lakes are located to the northwest of the Midwest Many people go there because of the Great Lakes People travel between the US and Canada on the Lakes

4 Contributions Attracts people to live there which helps economy People pay taxes from living in the Midwest so they can help build more houses The Midwest’s supply of fresh water comes from the Great Lakes Cities built along the Great Lakes are used for trading posts

5 Other Interesting Facts Average Depths Erie 62 ft. Huron 195 ft. Michigan 279 ft. Ontario 283 ft. Superior 483 ft. The Great Lakes is the largest body of fresh water in the world!!! 8 US States boarder the Great Lakes. They are Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York. 6 Introduced to Lake Erie in 1988 by ships from Eurasia Have been moving throughout Great Lakes and Mississippi River Nothing eats them, so species are vanishing from the US Zebra Mussel – Invasive Species to the Great Lakes 1997 2001
