Project Jarvis Details From the Boston Globe April 6, 2010: "Chad Barraford loves his dog, Miles. But Project Jarvis - the digital assistant that greets him, tracks his Netflix, and cooks hot dogs - has become indispensable.” Project Jarvis is a digital life assistant (DLA). Mixing home automation with social networking to life management, it uses mainly human communication means such as Twitter, instant message and voice to create a two way connection between him and his apartment, controlling lights and appliances, notifying him of breaking news, Facebook notifications, personal finances, package tracking, and more.

Final Project (Client Website) Presentation Considerations

Format PowerPoint Presentation ▫Use it to elaborate on your client, process, website, etc. Demonstrate your live website ▫It must be online!! Each of you have received cisweb logins at the beginning of the semester. Additional options were also discussed.

Duration You will have up to 20 minutes to present your final website (including setup and questions) ▫You should not spend less than 15 minutes presenting. Points will be deducted! Have your presentation with you on a flash drive ▫Don’t solely rely on the internet (email) You should also have your website files and your other support materials with you for reference ▫Again, don’t solely rely on the internet When setting up, get your website up and running live to demonstrate along with your PowerPoint

Requirements The following slides contain some guiding points and questions to help you structure your presentation. At minimum each of these questions should be answered. During your presentation I would like you to thoroughly elaborate on your experience working on your project Please use these questions and guideline and build upon them to ensure that you meet the timeline requirements

Presentation Details Identify your client and their needs ▫Who are their client (their audience)? ▫What do they sell (service or product, or both)? Why did your client feel the need to design/redesign their website? Who have you (or the client) identified as competitors? ▫How is you website similar/different from the competitors?

Elaborate on your Processes Interview process Ongoing Communication ▫What was your communication tool of choice? Email, phone, in person meetings, tweet, etc.? ▫How often did you communicate? ▫Did it work well? ▫What would you change? Design/Development Process ▫What software tools did you use for each element of your semester long project? Why?

Support Materials Display and elaborate on your timeline materials ▫Gantt Chart ▫Pert Chart Identify which creations were your own vs. what was provided to you by your client ▫Were you responsible for the design of the logo? ▫Who provided the text for the website?

Future Plans and Reflection Has your client seen the final product? If so, what was their feedback? Was anything out of scope for this project, but was considered as a future addition? If so, what is it and have you planned to move forward with it in the near future? What were some of the highlights of your experience? If you could do any of this over again, what would you change?

Details, details, details Remember that you need to present for a minimum of 15 minutes!! All presentations will be due, via email, by Tuesday, April 4

General Presentation Tips

Presentation Tips Don’t add too much text to each slide Make sure that your text is easy to read ▫Keep in mind the size, color, and style of your text ▫Be sure to pick and appropriate theme/design You don’t need 15 slides for a 15 minute presentation Practice, practice, practice your presentation in advance!
