2 1950’s The music of the 1950s flourished. The 50s saw the emergence and rise of what would come to be known as Rock ‘n Roll, but it was also witnessed the popularity of Country and Western music in a variety of forms.

3 Founder Carl Perkins was one of the pioneers in the creation of rock music. Rockabilly (country + R&B + rock)

4 The King Elvis Presley is the epitome of the 1950s musical revolution and he set many records during his career. His rockabilly style followed Carl Perkins. He attempted every form of music (country, gospel, and R&B.)

6 Effects of 1950’s music The 1950s was a time of change in the United States following World War II. Racial tensions were being strained with the beginning of the Civil Rights movement. Elvis helped to bring the two races together by popularizing “black” music. This decade was a time of innovation that helped to influence everything that we listen to on the radio today.
