1 Using SMART Sync to Interact with Students in a Computer Lab Setting

2 Understand…. There’s SMART Sync for students (on student machines) There’s SMART Sync for teachers (on teacher machines)

3 ESSENTIAL!!!!! Before students can sign in to SMART Sync, the teacher has to “start” to class.

4 SO--Click the SMART Sync teacher icon.

5 Give you class a name no one else in your building would have. It is always safe to do “new class.” Click OK.

6 You’ll now see screens of anyone who is logged on—see next slide for student log-in directions. Allows you to view student action, screen by screen. Allows you to view and respond to student questions. Allows you to send files to students. Allows you to block specific programs. Allows you to block the internet

7 Stops everyone from doing anything; “eyes to the front, please” Allows you to make a silent announcement to all screens. If you only want to communicate with one student, click on that person, screen, then click the announce icon. A dialog box will appear.

8 STUDENTS__Click on SMART Sync Student 2011

9 Click Connect

10 Choose name and teacher, then click CONNECT. Select your name; if not there, type it in (first time only) Change this to say Mr. Zuke (or your teacher and period #) Then click CONNECT

11 To send a saved file to the teacher for printing or a grade To receive a file from the teacher To ask the teacher a question
