1. WELCOME TO MS. BAKER’S 3 RD GRADE CLASS LUDLOW ELEMENTARY 2011-2012

2. ABOUT YOUR TEACHER My name is Ms. Baker. I am married to Mr. Baker. I have 3 children named Megan, Evan and Ben. I have a dog named Kilo. I live in Burlington, Kentucky.

3. MORE ABOUT YOUR TEACHER I went to Ludlow Elementary School and graduated from Ludlow High School in 1984. I went to Morehead State University and Northern Kentucky University to earn my teaching degrees. I have been a teacher at Ludlow Elementary since 1988 ( 23 years)!

4. SCHOOL SUPPLIES In 3 rd grade you will need these school supplies. 2 pocket folders Spiral notebooks Crayons Glue sticks Bottle of glue Pencils Colored pencils Dry erase markers Paper towels Disinfecting wipes Tissues Hand sanitizer Ziploc bags

5. LANGUAGE ARTS In language arts, we will be doing a variety of activities which include Reading Counts Literature Circles Leveled Readers Literacy Centers Spelling writing Remember to read at home every night!

6. MATH We will be using a new math series called Math In Focus. We will be doing a lot of hands on activities and learning a lot of new skills.

7. SCIENCE In science, we will be learning a lot about Living things Weather Magnets Fossils And much more!

8. SOCIAL STUDIES In our Social Studies Alive! Book we will be doing a variety of hands on group activities to learn about our world and the people in it.

9. ART EVERY Friday in 3 rd grade we will have an art lesson! We will use paint, pastels, and many more materials to create our artwork!

10. HOMEWORK This year, each child will receive a planner. They will write in their homework assignments and upcoming events in it each day. Homework will be assigned Monday- Thursday. Please remind your child to bring their homework and planner to school each day.
