3 Mrs. McIlrath – ( pronounced Mack Ill Wrath ) About me – * I have four children - One girl and three boys, ranging in age from 25 to 13 I love animals and currently own 2 cats, one dog, and a bearded dragon. I enjoy camping, fishing and hiking. I like to read, watch movies and spend time with my family I love to watch sports, especially ones that my kids are participating in

4 Communication Communication is key to a successful year. If you ever have a concern about your child please feel free to visit with me. * I will be available before and after school. 8:15 to 3:45 * You can call the school at 801-402-4600 and leave a message in the office. 5 General Daily Schedule 8:40 – first bell rings 8:50 – Tardy bell rings *Please note that Fridays 8:50 – 9:30 language arts schedule will be different. 9:30 – 10:15 reading 10:15 – 10:30 recess 10:30- 11:15 writing/handwriting 11:15-12:00 Prep/Library 12:00-12:15 clean up for lunch 12:15- 12:50 Lunch and recess 12:50-1:15 Math 1:15 – 2:10 Computer lab/math 2:10- 2:25 recess 2:30 – 3:15 math/science/other 3:15- 3:25 Clean –up **This schedule is subject to change

6 Attendance  By looking at our daily schedule you can tell that our day is very full of learning. A lot of these experiences are hands on and cannot be recreated or sent home for make-up when they are absent.  We understand that sickness, and emergencies happen. Please do not send your student to school sick. However, please make every effort to have them at school ON TIME, EVERY DAY!

7 Weekly Assessments  FRIDAY ATTENDANCE IS VITAL!  We assess students every Friday in multiple areas that we have been working on during the week. Language Arts Assessment Spelling Test Math Skills Quiz  Weekly Assessments are almost impossible to make up. Please make sure that your student is in class ALL DAY on Friday.

8 Homework  At Home Reading – 20 minutes a night.  They will be reading for comprehension, and will be completing a book report to be shared with the class once a term.  Please sign the Reading Calendar that will be sent home at the beginning of each month and due at the end of the month.  Also please total the reading minutes and keyboarding minutes seperatly.  10 minutes of other review  On occasion there will be homework that requires extra time. i.e. book reports or research projects.  If they do not finish the work in class it will be sent home as homework.

9 Fun Friday *Fun Friday is held on Fridays for those that have completed ALL of their work during the week. It will need to be turned in by Friday morning to earn this privilege, NO EXCEPTIONS. *If they do not finish all of their work they will rotate to class for “study hall” where they can complete the assignments.

10 Rules  Rules are based on “RESPECT”  R= respect for themselves and others  E= enter ready to learn  S= silent when others are talking  P= participate daily  E= erase negative thinking  C= care for the classroom  T= teamwork

Everyone starts ready to learn

12 Star Students  Each student will be assigned a week to shine.  They can bring a poster with things about them.  They can also bring a treat to share with the class. Please remember that they need to be store bought treats, no nuts. (stickers, pencils, small toys are great options )

13 Supplies your student will need 2 – one inch three ring binders 1 – 3X5 box (NO 3X5 cards) 3 – post it note pads 2 – pink erasers (Please mark with students name) If you can not send these items please let me know ASAP. Please DO NOT send extra pencils boxes, folders, markers. These items will be provided. Please see the next slide for other classroom wish list items.
