1 Registration 2010-2011

2 Graduation Requirements English 4 credits, must include English I and English II Math 3 credits, must include Algebra and Geometry Social Studies 2 credits, Must pass US History I and take US History II, must pass constitution test Science 2 credits Art, Music, For. Lang, Vocational at least 1 credit Drivers Education and Consumers Ec ½ credit Health ½ credit While Foreign Language is not required for graduation, at least 2 years is recommended by most colleges/universities

3 Grade Level Requirements Sophomores: English II, US History I, Math, PE, Health, Dr Ed, Cons Ec if not previously taken Juniors: Either Adv Gram/Brit Lit or Applied English/Short Topics, US History II, PE, Math Seniors: English Electives, PE, remaining electives; be sure that you have completed Eng I and Eng II, as well as Algebra and Geometry and a 3 rd math credit

4 Make Up credit If you fail a required course, you need to retake it until you pass (Examples: English, Math, History, etc…) Students are allowed to transfer in up to 2 credits for correspondence courses if they are lacking credits (See Mrs. Lair for details) Without appropriate credits, you will not move to the next grade level

5 Credits Freshman 0-6 credits Sophomore 6.5-12.5 credits Junior 13-19.5 credits Senior 20 and beyond credits

6 English Sequence Freshman- English I and Freshman Writing Sophomore-English II Junior- Adv. Gram/Brit Lit (A’s, B’s, high C’s typically in English) or Applied English/Short Topics (low C’s, D’s, F’s in previous English), also teacher rec. Electives: Novels, WL I or II, Speech (Rec. for seniors) Senior- Any of the above, Intro to College Comp or Dual Credit English

7 Math Sequence Freshman Year Algebra or Alg AB Sophomore Year Geometry Junior Year Algebra II or New Junior Math Senior Year Trig/Stats

10 Science Choices Freshman: Physical Science or Biology Sophomore: Biology, Chemistry (C or better in Alg I), Botany, Ecology, Zoology, Ag Sciences, Food/Nut. Science Junior/Senior: Biology, Chemistry I (Alg I rec.), Chemistry II (Chem I), Botany, Ecology, Zoology Genetics, Microbiology, Human Anatomy (C or better in Bio) Physics- C or better in previous science and math, Trig previously or concurrently

11 Dual Credit-Seniors Options are Intro. to Psychology, Sociology, College Algebra/College Trig, College Composition I and II Tuition is due the first of August and December You must test into these classes by taking the COMPASS at CSC, Cumulative GPA of 3.0 required, as well as good attendance record Tuition is currently $127/credit hour, most classes are 3 credit hours=$381 (MAT130=4 credits hours=$508) Check college to see how courses transfer, some colleges require dual credit to be above and beyond their admission requirements, for instance, if they require 4 English credits from high school, ENG101/102 would have to be your 5 th credit of English to transfer to that school ( U of Illinois, Monmouth College)

12 Dual Credit-Seniors If you are interested, mark the spot on your registration form. We will set up COMPASS testing for the group through CSC.

13 Engineering Electives Principles of Engineering Grades 9-12, Geometry recommended Not a math credit Overview of engineering, theory and practical hands-on experiences, design process, material testing

14 Foreign Language Spanish I- IV (Four years of high school foreign language may waive the foreign language requirement at some colleges) You need ‘C’s or better in Spanish courses to move on to the next level

15 Art Electives Drawing/Adv Drawing Painting (need Drawing first)/Adv Painting Sculpture Clay/Adv Clay Art Methods/Advance Art Methods 2 D Art I/ 2 D Art II One per semester, unless a senior pursuing art career
