3. As 7 th grade begins…… Continue to take an active part in your child’s learning – assignments and projects Realize that they think summer is still here….. Hold them accountable for showing you the Binder Reminder, teacher progress reports, and completed work. Parent Portal Stay in communication with the teachers via e-mail. 4. What’s going to be different in 7 th grade? They are ‘middle children’ Expectations a little more stringent More responsibility and accountability Friends are becoming more influential Independence still needs to be earned – be a proactive parent!

5. Suzanne is still their 2 nd home We want them to feel safe, secure, and supported Team (Science, Language Arts & Social Science) No one teaches or learns alone Personal touch and personal communication always in place

8. Promotion!! (8 th Grade) See attached paper for requirements! High School Get ready for the CAHSEE (California High School Exit Exam) 10 TH grade exam in Language Arts & Math. Students may retake if they do not pass!

9. A few more suggestions…. Focus on the present with an eye to the future Set achievable goals with them from tomorrow to next month to next year Help them stay organized Structure, not pressure Talk with your child and listen, listen, listen Keep track of their social groups Closely monitor cell phone, computer and game use Be involved and present HAVE FUN!!!!
