Objectives Analyse data copied from database. Create graphs using data from spreadsheets. See how graphs can be used to answer questions

Questions! Once we have gathered information from different people we will want to find out the answers to some specific questions. FFor example “Do most people recycle?”

So what’s the answer? We need to count how many people recycle 55 out of 8 people recycle

Task Copy your data into the spreadsheet for analysis. Make sure it is INSIDE the box. Try and put it to the top left of the box

Finding totals The spreadsheet should count up the totals for you. All you need to is fill out the tables underneath. Question 1 Copy your question here Responce 10 Responce 20 Responce 30 Responce 40 Responce 50 Question 1 How do you get to school? Walk4 Car2 Train7 Bus3

Task Enter your questions in the spaces in your spreadsheet. Make sure you type in the question and the responses. If it does not do the totals automatically you will have to do it manually!

Using graphs Clear that most people recycle. NNo need to count!

Why use graphs? Graphs can be read very quickly MMuch faster than reading the original data. We can see patterns in the data much clearer in graphs.

How green is your sample? Now we need to pull some useful information out of the graphs. We need to look at the graphs and decide WWhat was the findings from our questionnaire. AAnd what useful tip can be given.

Creating graphs Using your totals you need to create three different graphs. Click here to see how to create graphs.

task You need to create at least 3 graphs. Make sure you  Choose three different questions  Make sure the colour work well  It is easy to read  You have given a meaningful title to your chart.  You choose either a bar or pie chart.

Extension Look at your 3 graphs and decide – What information can I get from my graphs? Is there any advice I can give for people who did not give a “green” answer? Write these under your charts.
