Devil, called Lucifer (Morning Star), used to be an angel who, along with one-third of the angelic host (the demons) rebelled against God and was consequently condemned to Hell. He is described as hating all humanity, or more accurately creation, opposing God, spreading lies and wreaking havoc on the souls of mankind. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Paradise_Lost_12.jpg

The Devil in the form of a snake, also tempts Eve to disobey God by eating from the Tree of Knowledge, thus bringing sin to the World. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Tizian_-_The_fall_of_man.jpg

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ary_Scheffer_-_The_Temptation_of_Christ_(1854).jpg The Devil tempted Jesus at the start of his ministry, trying to corrupt him with wealth, power and protection from physical harm.

The Devil is said to have entered Judas, before his betrayal of Jesus. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Gustave_Dor%C3%A9_-_The_Holy_Bible_- _Plate_CXLI,_The_Judas_Kiss.jpg Luke 22:3 (New International Version) 3 Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve.

God tells Satan about his loyal servant Job. Satan sets out to turn Job from God.

Some Christians see the Devil as a metaphor for all human sin and temptation- there is no actual being.
