5 Communication Objectives
Build and maintain public confidence in security measures. Engage in transparent and timely interactions with the media while protecting the integrity of security operations. Provide timely communications (internal and external). Keep federal, provincial, municipal governments, partners, and other law enforcement and emergency agencies informed with regard to comms activities and issues management.

19 Media Relations Team Leaders and Public Affairs staff were deployed to 5 main locations: GPPAG (Gov. Partners Public Affairs Group) Vancouver Command Centre (Silver Comdr. Resource) Whistler Command Centre (Silver Comdr. Resource) VANOC Main Media Centre Whistler Media Centre Note: Dedicated resources will also be assigned to assist ISU Public Affairs from RCMP National Communications Services (PACS)

23 Community Relations Group Mandate
The Community Relations Group mandate was to establish and maintain open and transparent lines of communication with all stakeholders who may be affected, directly or indirectly by the Major Event The CRG built a relationship of trust, mutual understanding and respect between the ISU and all stakeholders/external parties

25 Community Relations The CRG actively engaged affected community members to educate and keep them apprised of the event and its impacts. This function mitigated issues that ranged from minor complaints to violent conflict.

26 Activist Liaison The CRG liaised with activists to establish open lines of communication. This dialogue acknowledged activist right to protest and ensured they were advised of police expectations, actions and consequences.
