2 What is the DCCS programme? Car Club Forum 24 The Developing Car Clubs in Scotland (DCCS) programme is funded by Transport Scotland (the devolved Scottish Government) and Managed by Carplus Main aim – to facilitate the development of car clubs across Scotland

3 The DCCS Programme Financial and technical assistance to support and expand car clubs across Scotland –20 locations –8,000 members –Close to 300 car club vehicles Car Club Forum 24

4 The DCCS Programme New locations to be added in 2015 include: –St Andrews, Fife –Inverness, Highlands –Larbert, Falkirk –North Berwick, East Lothian –Inverurie and Huntly, Aberdeenshire Car Club Forum 24

5 Membership Growth 80-90 new car club members every month Doubled membership since October 2010 Car Club Forum 24

6 Scottish Government Targets Very ambitious targets for almost complete decarbonisation of road transport by 2050 Focus on modal shift towards walking, cycling and public transport and widespread adoption of electric cars and vans …but car clubs also have a role to play! Car Club Forum 24

7 DCCS Programme Focus Current programme focus: –Developing car clubs in all urban areas in Scotland with populations over 25k –Supporting the electrification of the Scottish car club network Car Club Forum 24

8 Air Quality and Car Clubs A number of towns and cities in Scotland have air quality issues (and AQMAs) The car club fleet in Scotland: –92.5% Euro 5/6 compliant in 2013 –96% Euro 5/6 compliant in 2014 Car Club Forum 24

15 Utilisation of Car Clubs EVs City Car Club Nissan Leaf Visia 5dr Auto (6.6kw charger) based in Edinburgh Used by Edinburgh University, City of Edinburgh Council and members of the public Over 33 week period last year EV was used by 103 different drivers an travelled 4832 miles Car Club Forum 24

16 Utilisation of Car Club EVs Car club EVs better utilised than EVs in Council fleets They don’t sit unused in the evenings and weekends Co-wheels Aberdeen car club EVs are available for use by over 400 council employees …And over 400 other car club members in Aberdeen! Car Club Forum 24

17 The Benefits of EVs in Car Club Provide convenient and affordable access to EVs for as little as £3.75 per hour Provide access to an EV without the cost of owning one New members sign up specifically to drive EVs Drivers can select a vehicle most appropriate for their journey Car Club Forum 24
