2 Health care professionals A number of people will be involved in the care of an individual with additional needs. They should work together to meet the needs of the service user.

4 The advantages of working partnership are: For the patient Exactly as Arlene told us…. It’s about getting the best quality of care to meet the needs of the individual. Reassurance that the carer is competent in their role (using the specialist knowledge to meet objectives.) Trust, that the patient will find an atmosphere that they feel comfortable to be cared in. The patient will have a key carer (usually the consultant or GP) who will co-ordinate the care. This means they are responsible and can guarantee of treatment continuity.

5 The advantages of working partnership are: For the physician Efficient and considerate help from other specialists Thorough discussion of difficult cases Efficient fight against isolation, Efficient fight against ‘burn-out’ by sharing anxieties and difficulties, Possibility of transferring the responsibility of a patient to another team physician when it becomes too difficult for the referent physician.

10 Writing a report Introduction: A paragraph to explain what you are going to write about. Main text: the body of your report. Each point should have a new paragraph It’s important to PEE (point, explain, evidence) Always link back to your aim. Conclusion: A summary paragraph which brings all that you have said before together.

13 Referencing and bibliography Referencing Every time you use a direct quote or piece of research in your report you should reference it. “and they all live happily ever after” Santa Claus 2001 Then at the end of report you must state where you found the information. Don’t worry about it now, because we will go over it all again at the end. However I need you to make sure you keep a list of sources as you go along.
