13 How to ask for help from your teachers? What NOT to ask:What to ask instead: “Why am I failing?”“I noticed that I’m failing, and I need to make up a test.” “What’s my grade?”“I noticed that my grade is dropping. Can I get some help with _____?” “I don’t get it.”“I am still confused. Can you please show me another example?” “I don’t understand these concepts. Do you think you could sign a pass so I could come during academic travel?”

14  Ask before or after class or during individual work time.  Ask before or after school or during lunch.  Be prepared  Have a specific question. When do you ask your teachers for help?

15  Ask for help until you get it!  Ask a former teacher for additional help.  Visit the library to print off your grades.  Visit the tutoring center as an additional resource. How often should you ask?
